Devizes RFC prioritises safeguarding and creating a safe environment for participants in rugby union at the Club, whether as player, coach, parent, spectator, club official or other volunteer.
We care for our players who are U18 and follow the advice, guidance, policy and frameworks for safeguarding in rugby union, as laid down by the RFU.
All relevant RFU guidance can be found at this link on the England Rugby website: https://www.englandrugby.com/governance/safeguarding
RFU Regulation 21 (which can be found at this link: Regulation 21) provides the top level procedures for safeguarding, including dealing with abuse allegations and breaches of policy.
Devizes RFC has appointed a Club Safeguarding Officer, who is supported by Club Safeguarding Assistants. Their details are contained in the Club Safeguarding Policy.
Our Club policies can be found at the links below.
Any person over the age of 16 may volunteer to become a coach, team manager, first aider or even kitchen helper. All support is most welcome. RFU guidance also requires volunteers to complete the Volunteer Recruitment Form, a link to which is below. This will allow the Club to consult references to ensure that volunteers are suitable for the role.
Following on from the Volunteer Recruitment Form, all volunteers will be required to undergo an Enhanced DBS check. Devizes RFC / the RFU requires its own DBS check, so even if you have one (eg, you're a school teacher or are involved in other community work) we will still need to put you through a DBS check. The Club Safeguarding Officer/Assistant will complete this with you.
